Distended belly, not egg bound - please help!

2 days ago she wasn't eating much as mentioned above, I tried feeding her some rice and hamburger, she gobbled it up (mostly just the rice). She had food in her crop last night at bed time, a good sign. She also dust bathed yesterday (Hen cam), and I caught her sun bathing on the Hen cam today. I work all day so I have a web cam in their run to keep tabs of the girls. I've been bringing her in at night to keep an eye on her. Her poo is back to normal, no longer runny. It is going well, we are on day 6 with the antibiotics. I let her sleep outside with the girls last night. Fingers crossed! :fl

Excellent news! I hope she continues to heal up well!! :)

Update, this is day 10 0f amox. She seems back to normal, eating, fiesty, free ranging, dust bathing, ect. However this morning I found a small piece of infection under her roost, about the size of a marble. Much smaller than the one before. Can she just be sluffing off old infection that is in there? This was smaller by far, and harder than the previous gelitin like one I saw when she became sick. I was planning on being done with antibiotics tonight...

Sometimes yolks get stuck in the uterus and cook awhile, Lash Eggs. Infection can cause Lash Eggs too, however she may finally be passing the last of the gunk now that had built up now that the infection is gone. Its the birds that don't pass these things that are in trouble. So I wouldn't be too concerned about these. Lash Eggs can also be a sign that a hen is coming to the end of her egg laying days.

Great to hear she is doing much better!! :) Keep us posted on how she does over time. :)

So far so good! had another infection nugget the other day, other than that, she seems good. she is eating, dust bathing, free ranging, everything normally. doesn't seem to be eating as much as usual (before she was sick) but none of the girls seem to be eating as much right now, so not really worried about it. Hopefully we are good! I'll let you know of any changes...

Thanks for the update, glad to hear she is still going:)

Cluck-Cluck started laying again last week. She may have started before that, but I only had confirmation last week. I have 5 chickens, and 2, her and Morticia a SLW lay almost identical eggs, so unless they both lay in 1 day, I cannot tell who laid what. I suspected it a couple of weeks ago, as the eggs were slightly different, maybe? Finally got 2 of the eggs in one day, sooooo. it is looking good. :D thank you for all your help!

I have one of my girls going through the same thing it sounds. Been soaking her in Epson salt bath as long as she will allow which is quite some time. I have given her some olive oil in hopes that would get something moving no luck. She has been this way for over a week and though she is eating yoghurt her favorite and so feed. Drinking and some poo she is getting worse. Any ideas please.
