I'm sorry bama for your loss. Best wishes for you and your family.

On a good note I just had a awesome customer give me a dozen hatching eggs from his black and blue copper marans and bring me a trio! He wouldn't let me pay for then even.

Photo update:

Hilma's tunnel. Yes, she's in there.

She's taking some straw in there for insulation now too.

Eemeli saying hi to Hilma.

Eemeli seems to like his offspring too.

Älize checking out the bunny tractor. I think she believes it's a doghouse.

Feeding time. The little buggers are perching already.

I think they're a lot more agile already too compared to any earlier hatches we've had. They don't seem to get cold even though it's only about high 30's to low 40's in the coop. And they run about like crazy. They're not afraid of the other birds either. I don't think they've seen the juvenile roos yet, but the one laying hen (their biological mother) and the rooster (the father) they have no problem with. Luckily the adopted mothers don't allow the juvie cockerels in the coop. These guys have no problem navigating 4 inch high ledges either. And they're problem solvers, the drapes in front of the nest boxes are no longer an issue, at first they we're slightly puzzled by them and had problems getting into the nest. I haven't seen them drinking yet, but they're getting some moisture in their food. And probably they do drink too, just not when I'm standing there, just having brought a fresh batch of food. I need to mix up a new batch of feed for them, I need a higher protein content. But I think I'll do that tomorrow. They can go on cottage cheese and eggs and the normal chicken feed until then. It does look like the mommies might be selecting the higher protein ingredients from the mix to feed to them though.

Oh, the most developed juvie cockerel started practicing crowing today.

Video hasn't finished processing yet, but it should appear once it has.

I also attached a gutter to the bunny pen, and another one that will work as my salad growing shelf, but I need to redo the fastenings for that one, it's pretty flimsy at the moment. I'll take pictures once it's done.
