Dixie Chicks

Interesting evening tonight. We we're supposed to discuss the wall dispute between our house (Us and the next door neighbors) and the annoying neighbors, but Karin had to go kill a cat so I went alone. We came up with some ideas, and then I mentioned in passing that it was my birthday, so I found my self back there half an hour later enjoying some bubbly. It was quite nice, actually. Then Karin came home, and after a few glasses of sparkling wine we finally had dinner at quarter to midnight. Some lovely steaks, grilled eggplant and a green salad with pecan nuts and baked chevre, and for dessert, grilled pineapple with artisinal chocolate ice cream.

Noooo! Real Beck's the super good German beer. :-)
I heard someone in Germany wanted to start taxing beer. The German president or whatever they have said there would never be a tax on beer,
to the German people beer is food, raise the tax on liquor higher instead.

Here about 60-80% of the price of beer is tax. Even the cheapest lager costs about a euro per 33cl can. Imported stuff is often 2-5 euros per bottle. A pint at a bar is 5-8 euros.

Wow, that's expensive. About a dollar a bottle here for good beer, I usually drink the cheap beer, half that. At a bar it depends, most around here is $3.50 a bottle, high end bars geez I don't go to them, go broke.
Edited to add I don't mean cheap crappy beer, just what's on sale. I usually get Labbat's or Molsen, both good Canadian lagers for a dollar a 24oz can.

Quote: Here, only TSC has a min number of chicks. None of the local feed stores have a limit as far as I know and the city doesn't impose a limit. The feed store I always use doesn't have a limit. In fact, when I was in there the other day a guy was buying ducklings for his kids and just to raise for their own enjoyment in general. He asked if there was min. The owner's son already had a whole speech ready for anyone who asks.

I've noticed reading hatchery reviews Dave's garden has a lot of hatchery reviews, that the majority of complaints of dead chicks came from people only ordering a few. When I ordered from Meyer's last year their min order in cold months is 15, after April min is 3. I only wanted 11 but ordered a extra ten. All arrived healthy and lived.
I'm not a big fan of Dave's Garden because of those reviews. I want to tell them how stupid they are so badly it hurts. I ordered my chicks from Meyer even after reading all the butt hurt reviews on there. For the most part I'm happy with them and they got here alive. That's about all I ask. Aside from getting my order right. I ordered 27 to get around the limit and ended up with 28.

@Razadia You have to take those bad reviews with a grain of salt. The good reviews greatly outweighed the bad ones for Meyer's.
That's why I went with them.
I really like when a hatchery rep gets on and clarifies a bad reviewer and sets the record straight. I read one that the reviewer was lying, hatchery called them out on it, their conversations were recorded. The person post back that recording them is illegal. Hatchery posts back, nope sorry, we clearly state that all calls are recorded for clarification and record keeping purposes. Lol!
