Another point is probably that chickens are social animals, and that law is supposed to keep people from buying a single chicken and keeping it alone. I think regulation is a useful tool for many things, but it is often used in the wrong way. I didn't like it when they forbid smoking in bars and restaurants, but after seeing the effects for a couple of years, I have to say it was a good thing. I also think firearm registering is a good thing. But then there are some laws I just don't understand. Like when I worked nights, if I wanted to buy beer while shopping for food in the morning, I had to go to the store after 9. Because it's illegal to sell alcohol in stores between 21 and 9. A much more efficient law would be not to sell to people who are clearly intoxicated. That's forbidden too, but I'd say the clock thing just makes life more difficult for normal people.
Here alcahol regulations vary from State to State and county to county within the state. Technically last call for Alcahol is 2 am in San Diego
Last Call Laws World Wide
Sales in Grocery stores or liquor stores Now this one is an eye opener for me
In California they cant sell alcohol anywhere from 2 AM to 6 AM.
