WOW!  RIGHT NOW NEIL CAVUTO ON FOX NEWS IS DOING A WHOLE DEAL ON THE AVIAN INFLUENZA IN 13 STATES AND  NOW THERE'S A NEW STRAIN IN CALIFORNIA AND IDAHO!

Yeah, I heard there was a new strain. The second farm hit in Ontario Canada was a new strain, I think, could be wrong.

Evening. Just came home, I left my wallet at home when I left so I had to have a friend float me at the restaurant... And then I was unsure whether or not I had taken the wallet when I switched pants, so I was worried about losing my wallet the whole evening until I got home. Luckily it was still in my jeans.

Sam, identifying the mites would be a good first step. Some live only on the animal, while some live in the bedding/cracks and only come out every once in a while to feed on the animals. If you're lucky, it's poultry mites (unsure on name?) which only live on the bird their whole life. Then you could probably just treat the birds with permethrin, spray them with Raid or something (near the vent, on the neck, and under the wings). If it's a problem in the coop, you'll have a bigger issue in front of you. Depending on what it is, you might need to empty out everything from the coop and treat with pretty strong stuff.

We went to a Russian restaurant, and I must say the food was quite nice. Had some blinis for starters, then a steak served with garlic 'taters, two kinds of fermented cabbage, and a couple of different pickled or marinated onions, garlic, and garlic pickled gherkins. And some sort of paprika and pickle sauce. For dessert, there was this baked Alaska thing. Ice cream and meringue.

Thanks Felix they are tiny red buggers... Dark red... Got a general creepy crawly product

It kills a number of insects and can be used on the bird or bedding. The cool will be scribed regardless :sick I'm not a fan of infestations.... Who is

Alaskan go change your underwear, even mine are not that old....

Sam, Dermanyssus gallinae? I think those mainly just feed on the chicken, but they live in the bedding and in any cracks. Permethrin, pyrethrin (Raid etc.) and phoxim (Baymite) should work. You should change all the litter, preferably burn it. And you should treat the coop too, not just the bird. DE might not hurt either, even though I'm not a big fan of it. Treat twice, a week between treatments. Those can be tough to get rid of, they can live in the structures well over a year. Heating the coop will help lure them out, and they're mainly nocturnal.
