I got an ohiki egg today! Finally, first one in 2 weeks! I took the mandarins out this morning too.

how so what do you do?

Zip tie the handle to fence or coop leg, etc... hang it so bottom edge of the cutouts are about breast height of the birds... use 1 zip tie at top of handle so it hangs at the right height and a second 1 at bottom of handle so jug doesn't swing... 1 jug works for a few chooks, so if you have a bigger flock just hang some more around... it stays dry too, had sideways downpours and only had a small bit of water in 1... these jugs degrade, but cheap to replace when they do... can use for water too, but pain to clean out...

Or the hens are PMSing, lol...
Yay! Think they didn't appreciate sharing their home, lol...
who knows. They laid the egg right before I took the mandarins out. I moved the mandarins to their aviary. They hiss and carry on. I threw my blue Swedish flower rooster in there. Maybe some competition will help.

Wild turkeys the feed store was selling. Boy could they fly. Mr T was full of Bling with bronze and black feathers irridescence in all of them and a beautiful Snood that would wiggle around and change shape depending on his mood. Mrs T Was like your little hen... Churp churp churp wouldnt hang close to me like Mr T.

He would do his Snidely Whiplash sidle ... getting ready to sneak up on you and youd turn around and hed walk away... "OH look a bit of weed" Where ever he went Mrs T was in Eye shot... He was a fierce protector of all the flock... I had an A!&hat roo that would challenge everyone.... Mr T skinned him...

I found Mr T beating the crap out of something in the coop... Oh Gawd I thought. I move Mr T off and there in the corner on his back with his eyes clenched shut was a Raven... I thought he was dead... I picked him up and checked for broken bones or damaged skin... then warmed him in my Jacket... it was winter. and felt movement.... peeked in the jacket and one beady eye was looking at me then it shut tight.

I sat on the porch with him till he moved some more then took him to the tree area in the driveway loop. I set him on a tree branch.... He hopped down.... and the last I saw of that Raven was him walking down the road....

. I am certain he was too embarrassed to let his family know what had happened.

not like he's covering 50 hens, he's only got 3 and they're all 2 years old. He's a few months younger than the hens. I'm about to break the second breeding pen of Ancona ducks up and run them as one group to save myself some work They're making a mess in that smaller pen.
