Dixie Chicks

I've seen him mount all 3 hens but not recently. He stays up on the roost most of the day and comes down and calls the girls for food when I feed. He seems to have earned his spot and the 3 of them are all over him at night.

Maybe he isn't in "the mood"?? lol

Everything is fine.
Losing my egg market sealed the deal... Keeping my ducks and I'll set it all up better next year...

Understandable... sorry for the "egg police"... :/

got 2 more ohiki eggs! 3 out of 4 hens for the day!

YAY!!! 'Bout time, little freeloaders!! :D

Thanks guys
I could cry, I love my birds. But they all have new homes, and I've still got my ducks. I know way more now and can set things up so much better in time... And I can work on fighting the egg police!

Sam, what would it take to do it legally? In Canuckia you need to wash eggs, right? Funny how different things are, here it's forbidden to wash eggs. Occasionally you'll get some feathers with your store bought eggs.

Oh yeah, we need to take another salmonella test at some point too. Karin was thinking of actually getting a health inspector over just for the fun of it, would be good to have papers that say everything is in order in case someone gets annoyed by our birds in the future.

I'd need to buy "egg shares" and have my eggs sent to a gradeing facility... None of those around here... And to afford this I'd need to cram my birds into battery hen cages... Not exactly my style... Not local or cruelty free... I can do farm gate sales and farmers markets, but that's not the point... Need to call the Canadian food inspectin agency back, see what they have to say about duck eggs... Write my MLA etc... It is total BS that it's legal on Vancouver Island. I'm Either going to fix it for everyone or wreck it for everyone...
Holy Hanna I'm ticked off...

Big hugs, that's a hard decision. Do duck eggs or quail eggs fall under the same restrictions?

I'm hoping you get something to hatch. Those eggs have been through war.

I hope so too. Anything more then 7 hatched is a bonus. Might have to order myself some more eggs now that I have another incubator.
