@Alaskanany ideas on the quail colors? I'm clueless. The assortment included

THE EGGS FOR THIS ACTIONS COME FROM: A VARIETY OF TUXEDOS INCLUDING RED AND TIBETAN TUXEDOX, ITALIAN OR GOLDEN SPECKLED, MANCHURIAN-GOLDEN WITH NO SPECKLES, ROSETTAS, SCARLET, DARK RANGE AND RED RANGE TIBETANS, AND SOME ROUX DILUTE.

I don't have much of a clue! The striped ones look like what my brown Pharaoh looked like.... The super light ones you have must be the italian or golden speckled since those are the lightest colors in your list of choices... But I have no more guesses!

The problem is that some of those colors will be harder to sex...

figure I'll watch and mark the males as they crow. Then we'll decide who to keep from there.

Now to decide whether to buy a 50lb bag of starter or a smaller bag. The only other size I've found is 5lb. I have a feeling 5lb won't go far since there is 29. Wish I knew of someone local with 25ish lb bags.

I think one will need tape shoes as its feet are still curled. We'll see tomorrow afternoon.

is it possible to divide the fifty pound bag and freeze the rest.... for later hatches?

Because I didn't want to get 50 pounds for a few quail... I have

1. Just fed them chick started, un-medcated...yes, it is way lower in protien.... They did fine, maybe grew a bit slower

2. Bought higher protien stuff and shared the bag between the quail, and fed some to slow moulting chickens.

You know back when I used to work in a pet shop... We used to buy Bales of Shavings... for like six bucks... The boss would get like five two for the animal cages... and wed take one bale and fill plasic bags with it... the size that would hole five pounds of ice.... Wed fill those up fold over the top give it a couple of staples and sell the bags for 99 cents. To go with the Hampster cages and hamsters and rats and guinea pigs....

I believe we got fifty bags of shavings out of one bale.... the Boss was brilliant.

But figure out what fifty pounds of feed costs per pound.... then figure out what a five pound bag costs per pound... I bet even if you threw the stuff you dont use away youd still be ahead.

you could bag it up in paper bags and sell em on craigs list...

You could find some low protein feed to mix it in and feed to the chickens as well. Some horse müeslis might be worth looking into, they tend to have a relatively low protein content but they pack a lot of vitamins and trace minerals. The one I'm using as part of my chicken feed and as one of the main ingredients for the bunny feed is about 11% I think.

You need a Greenhouse. Already selling greens here, loads of greens... Bamas mustard greens are growing faster than I can get rid of them...
Is the Fire creating its own lightning yet?
The huge fires by punkys work did last year...

Starting to think the same thing. As for the fire: it is moving closer to us. Fire crews are working hard at keeping it away from us by Marie Lake. It is also getting closer to the Foster Creek project. Expecting some rain (60% chance) this afternoon which will also bring higher winds. Not sure if it's creating it's own lightning yet, but it's feeding itself.

We used to do that with hay Perchie at the pet store I worked at. Smart idea, what rabbit keeper in the city needs an entire bale?

brilliant.

I think I'm going to buy a 10lb bag I found.

I'll give strombergs credit, sent me infertile eggs and they're replacing them!
