Dixie Chicks

Oh... I think every time she says "paint" I hear "splash" :th

Are they different things?

Yep... splash is from breeding blues of course, but the color is only on the tips of the feathers or partial parts of feathers... in paints (going with the Silkie definition) the color is the whole feather, goes all the way down the shaft... and you should only breed paint to paint or paint to black...

They can have lots of white or very little white, but is more desirable to have a little more white than dark... you actually have to dig through their fluff to see if the color goes all the way down the shaft, but with more white you can kinda see it... I have paints and had to ask what the difference was from splash to verify they were truly paints, lol...

That is nice!

I would love to see that on an Ameracana....

Ok... But wait... How is that different from mottled? Because mottled is mostly black with white feathers?

Paint is mostly white with black feathers??

Someone said they see paint like a pinto horse... patches of color as opposed to fully mixed like mottled... and yes, paint is black and white (as far as I know)...

And think mottled is more white in black, rather than black in white...

Clear as mud yet??
