Dixie Chicks

I think they are pretty..... But their laying is just poor....

:idunno

My bantam d'uccles lay so much better! Even with them going broody mpre often than the Wyandottes.... The d'anvers are supposed to lay just as well as the d'uccles but the d'anvers don't have the fluffy feet. The fluffy feet d'uccles are the only ones that I have with missing toe parts... All because it is so difficult to keep those stupid fluffy fet clean and dry in the winter.

The combo of no one drooling, waiting to buy BLR bantam wyandottes from me, and their low lay rate.... And i dunno.... I would rather use the coop space for something else.

However... If no one buys them, I will keep them and maybe breed them next spring.

Amberjem, take all the time you need. We understand but look forward to having you back!

Vehve is also absent.... Hmm

Alaskan, I had none hatch. Opened all the eggs on Wednesday only to find all dead. Some had the yolk absorbed others still had to absorb. I think they all died ~3-5 days before they were due. (2 separate hatch dates). I think something didn't go right with the incubator. Going to sell it and get something more reliable. The hovabator hasn't been good to me

That is crazy horrid.

:hugs

At least we have both had horrid hatch rates together! :lau

If it makes you guys feel better, my female quail number has dwindled to 10. 17 males, yep 17. What in the world am I going to do when I have to pick males to go with the females? What colors do I pick? I have an assortment of female colors...

Maybe I should have gotten plain on Pharoah colored quail...then I wouldn't have to decide on colors, just health and size. Uhg, I'm an idiot.

Wish I could help, but have diddly squat knowledge of quail or their colors... :idunno

@Alaskan glad your chicks are doing well with the scovies... I had OEGB's in with call ducklings w/out issues... except now the OEGB's are too big for their britches, lol...

Lots to eat when you do sort. Did you "foam sex" them?
I guess you'll have to decide on your goals. Size or colour?

yep, finally at almost 6 weeks they decided to foam. A couple boys have waited to 7 weeks. That's why I just discovered 2 more... no eggs yet. At least the boys are getting along together. I took them away from the females until I knew what I had.

Who knows, no eggs yet, maybe they're all boys!!!

Yeah and I had 2 call ducklings drop over dead today. No reason, same age, same hatch day, looked identical. One male and one female. Just dead. Half feathered too.
