Dang if it is Mareks.... sorry!

The next 5 months NEED to go by fast, but I I also need to figure out how to move my chickens, ducks, turkeys, sheep and quail 1600 km. I may not be able to do it all in one shot.

You could buy a used stock trailer use it for transport then sell it again once you get there. They have partitions that are moveable and or you could build partitions. Tell me how many of each you have and I can work out the space you would need.

Oh and for what its worth for the length of the trip laying down room is fine for every one... the logistics will be feeding and watering. but that agian would be simple with nipple waterers. for the birds and gravity feeders.... One of those metal feeders lasted me almost ten days for 25 chickens... holds 25 pounds of feed.

just let me know a head count of each and I can work the rest out.

Between the FOX, COYOTES AND HAWK, IT HAS BEEN THE WORSE YEAR FOR OUR CHICKENS. AND THEN THE MINK. I am willing to discuss my problems, mistakes, triumphs, some people have told me they would not. They said they would keep it to themselves so they dont cause a panic. Then how do people learn from others mistakes I asked? I learn from my mistakes and I learn from others mistakes just like I learn what NOT to do, I learn what to do.

We need to share our experiences, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I have no advice......

But WOW.... Horrid.

Uh... But reading the article... I Think it works this way: The vaccinated chicks don't actually HAVE Mareks now. However, they could catch
Marecks, and you would never know they caught it because the vaccine hides the fact that they got it. Only THEN do they spread the Marecks virus all over.

Right?

So, at this point, IF you have zero chickens with the disease, it shouldn't matter that some have been vaccinated and some haven't.

I think. :idunno

Sorry Apiary you are having such a terrible year with the chickens... I don't have nearly as much experience as you, so unfortunately have no advice. However, I do agree: how do we learn if we don't share our knowledge. Isn't that part of the reason why we are all here?

Perchie: not sure I want to write down numbers... haha. I have added a lot this year. I may be able to move everyone in a huge enclosed trailer if I stack the chickens and 2 turkeys (and maybe some ducks) in crates. In addition to my 7 chickens from last year I purchased 7 more chanteclers (including another rooster, so they are being kept separate). We'll be somewhere around 100 ducks during the move. Then squeeze 4 sheep in there.

I may leave the chickens here for an additional month or 2, we are keeping the property and my husband may not be moving with me. ( job start date not certain yet)

Ya'll disappeared and the thread has been echoing like an empty tunnel... would love to see your deck room when it's done... :)

He says it's "greenish" in colour, guess it's an Ancona girl? What do you think @minihorse927 ? or Cayuga? I would expect a Cayuga's first egg to be dirty brown looking or greyish?
