Dixie Chicks

Great to hear they are working out vehve. Sucks they keep drinking th down that fast though.

[@]RavynFallen[/@, remember the little white chick with spots that was a cross of my mauve orpington rooster and paint easter egged pullet? We thought it was a cockerel. Guess what, it's a pullet! She's going to be very small, which sucks, but she's definitely a very pale chocolate. I need to get a good pic of her.

That's awesome! Too bad she is small, but at least she is a she, lol... would love to see her now...

Well, looks like 4 little kits came into the world today. I hope they manage out in the cold, it's about 15F out there right now. They're packed into a straw lined box that acts as a windbreak, and they're inside bunny fur, so they should be fine. A bigger litter would have meant more heat though...

Our chickens and rabbits seem to drink lots more in the winter vehve. I get up at 4:30am to fill the waterers. None of ours are heated. Then when I get in from work, about 7pm, I get them more. It's been around 20F (-6c) but went down to 9f (-12c) today.

The fowl pox issue seems to have cleared itself up finally. I separated the ones that were hard hit and put a bit of chlorine bleach in their water. I didn't give them antibiotics or anything else since what I read is that it's basically a virus that spreads quickly and will run its course. Too hard to isolate when I have so many. :)Tough chickens. They are much more resilent than I'd ever have thought. :)

Hennible, how much longer do you have? My step daughter is due with her 2nd one around Valentine's Day. Babies are awesome......as long as they are not mine.....lol!

Construction crew coming back tomorrow:th. I'll be so glad to have everything done. But that really NEVER happens does it? Tomorrow they are ripping out the sliding glass door in the family room and replacing it. We have been here almost 4 years and can't hardly see through the slider door. The seal is broken, so it is cloudy and also gets condensation between the panes. in the meantime, the crew calls us, says we will be out tomorrow, you need to clear out these rooms. Well, all the stuff has to go somewhere. Yeah.

20 more weeks give or take outpost, due June 1st. It's a healthy boy accourding to ultrasound.
