Any one ever had to deal with wry neck? Went back to lock up chickens yesterday and one of my hens was laying on the ground with her neck all twisted. I brought her up to the house and she is in a dog crate. She ate bread dipped in vitamin and electrolyte water. I also smashed a vitamin e tablet over the bread. She is 5-6 months old and was purchased from a hatchery. All of her other flock mates have been fine except one developed some sort of unknown eye infection that won't seem to clear up. Any suggestions on how to care for either? Thinking of culling them both due to the fact that I wanted to use them for breeding next spring. But, chances are its in the whole batch of birds I got from there.

Dang... not in older birds, and only a couple chicks ever... and Nutridrench took care of that quick... I think Vitamin E and Selenium is the suggested treatment, but I'm not totally sure...

There is a BYCer named Queen Misha (oops, QueenMisha, no space) that treated a Silkie for it, I think successfully... might give thsm a PM and ask what they did... otherwise, I would probably cull, sorry... :(

Edited to correct username...

I have heard of wry neck in older chickens... Bring in Alaska we often get bad feed

Vitamins over a week should take care of it... I would also do the vitamins for a week for the one with the eye issue.

Check you feed... Did it get baked? Is it super old? Contaminated in some way?
