Dixie Chicks

You prepare it as any other jamb , found my recipe on line .....Texas was the place I believe ....and depending on how thick u want it as it does use Certa Pectin as a ingredient . I've had he best success with just average melons , musk melons , even threw in some Honey Dew once , but the melons need to be ripe , simply sniff the melon to see if it smells ripe .....You can put the cut melon through a blender , crush the cubes as the boil so that there are larger pieces ? Quite simple and like I said if done correctly it is so sweet , has the aroma of honey . More of a freezer jamb , but I normally make a batch with two or three melons and just store the jamb in the fridge as it disappears rather quickly . Might not be for all tastes , but me likes :)

Oh, about songs... I also really like the old cowboy songs,

like:

I'm gonna leave old Texas now

and

Ridding old paint and leading old dan

and

pancho lopez, pride of all Mexico

and

el Paso (great yodeling in this one)

HAHA!

Actually, I am sitting on the couch, curled into a ball, under a thick fuzzy blanket, wearing my long coat (kinda like a cowboy duster).  My hands aren't too cold though.  Typing is going OK.  :D

I did just have to answer the door though... and wondered if they thought that it was funny that I answered the door wearing a coat.  :idunno

CONGRATS!  on the chicks!  @idiotswife
  !  No one else had new chicks, did they?

@Amberjem
I loved your chick pictures!  That dark chick has the longest legs!

@Sharps Big 50
  I actually liked your music video.  :cool:

I used to can,

I canned salsa, tomatoes, made jelly, and pickles....

That was years ago though.... as an adult I have only done Salsa and pickles....

and at this point I only do refrigerator pickles....  so no canning

U have got to try Alton Browns fermented pickles.

Im gunna havta try figuring out how to down load Grant Rogers record, my mother put it on cassette tape for me. My Grandfather played with him, and is the guitar player on the record when Grant is stroking the fiddle, I think it was only two songs on the record. There was a few youtube videos of him, but I cant find them, my mother thinks his daughter had them taken down

One of my favorites was three nights drunk. You probably heard some of them. He grew up in one of the towns they bulldozed for NYC reservoirs, I have heard the song a couple times on documentaries/movies about dams wiping out towns, he wrote it about the Cannonsville reservoir. Holy crap, found another vid!

Alaskan, this guy has some of the coolest hand forged and pounded knives I've ever saw. My wife's cousin Kenny Westbrook. His hand forged knives are awesome! He and his wife hand tool the leather sheaths too. Artists!
Check out his website K.E. Westbrook Blades. http://westbrookknives.blogspot.com/

not on the chainsaw but chain drives for machines.... I believe the deraileur on a bicycle has a sprocket that is desigend to take up the tension of the chain drive when changing from gear to gear. larger and smaller diameter gears.

A third sprocket could also be used in a fixed position for maintaining the slack in a chain to make the chain go around an interference point.

The chain drives I designed were destined for sorting machines on production lines. Low speed.
Or for material handling drives within an assembly operation.

Anyone do preserves ? canning of any kind , old world , something new , veggies , meats jambs ??
I make a Cantaloupe jamb when they are in season and ripe ........which is hard to find in the stores as they seem to all be picked green ?

I call it liquid gold because if done correctly it's as sweet as honey , enough sugar content with the added amount , but o so sweet and great on your morning toast . Would like to see and maybe get some recipes for some other new ideas
