Just for you @Amberjem I ran back out in the cold for quick pic, lol. Not totally finished yet, still needs nest boxes and bracing underneath on the legs, but ground is too frozen today. No mud today, it all froze last night, lol.

That is nice! Some skills to built it in a day! I am guessing where you are it doesn't get nearly as cold as here?

Thanks, I precut most of it and it really helps having very good cordless powertools, lol. They do most of the work!
Nope, Tennesse winters are very mild compared to what I have been used to, just nasty sleet but it melts pretty quick.

Yep, clear polystyrene panel for tons of light! The legs are just 2x2's, but gonna put cross braces and I have some metal bars from an old futon that I'll sink into the ground and secure to the legs. It got too cold to do that today, mebbe tomorrow, lol. Glad you like, that is my first coop totally from scratch!

@RavynFallen
Thats a good idea, the clear roof panel. My coop is on the ground, 8'x16' with windows. I'm planning to triple the size in the spring and was going to use old windows for light. Now Im thinking a few clear roof panels would be cheaper and easier. Was thinking of going with a hoop house, but I like the look of my coop.kinda lika red barn.

I was going to add clear panels to mine as well then I decided against it .. I didnt think about only using one though I like that idea... probly not cheaper thats one of the reasons I didnt do it...

@Beer can thank you, I thought about it a lot before putting it on, now very glad I did. Cheaper? Maybe, or maybe not, lol. That panel is 8x2 approx and was $20 or $22 at Lowe's. OH deemed it worth the cost. He has become smitten with all our chickens, lol.
Wish I could put mine on the ground, but we have copperheads and cottonmouths here. Never seen any on our hill, but they would love and egg buffet laid out at their level, lol.
