not in the case of bison. in the case of anything in the deer family, horns or a lack thereof depending on the time of year might be a give away.

Hiya. Just got back from picking up some feed. We visited a local farm and got a few different kinds of grains and some game bird mix. We went a little bit crazy, it's going to take us ages to feed 120 kilos of feed...

Also, my head started processing the fact that our neighbor just did some insulation fixes over at the other neighbor, so I went over to him and asked if he had any PU left over. Sure, he said. So I insulated the waterer. Problem is, I didn't want to make a mess, so I did it outside. And it behaves a bit differently in -5C than it does in +20C. So here's how it was supposed to look.

And here's how it actually looked 3 minutes later. I went slow, but I should have gone a lot slower, would have saved me from a lot of cleanup. But at least it's going to be nice and tight if I get it trimmed nicely.

Birds didn't want to co-operate when I was taking a pic.

Those two darker boys sure have developed huge combs. And they're very red. I'm starting to rethink the lighter ones, but I guess they're just developing a bit slower, probably still boys.

Deb, I'm intimately familiar with that kind of toiletry, although instead of sawdust we mix it with peat and pine needles. It still smells pretty nasty when you empty the buckets, not something I'd use directly. Ours separates the pee out too.

Wild boar, that's delicious. Great with fried potatoes.
