I would love to know if you can source those hemp seeds @vehve as feed but I had heard that it was toxic to chickens I read it on a poisonous plant list for chickens...

Jem, might be the wacky tobacky kind, don't know what THC does to a chicken but fibre hemp has virtually no THC in it, I know other livestock can be fed on it.

AJ: How much does the egg weigh? My pullet eggs stared off at around 38g.

Vehve, the water can is a good idea or even a bucket. Next winter maybe a heated dog dish or built one myself. Thinking of a hanging bucket/container with nipples at the bottom and industrial strength heat trace line for heat.

The same stuff currently keeps our septic line from freezing 3 feet under my driveway. I can get the heat trace line built for whatever length needed by a local electric place.

Hmm...

here is a link to the stuff. I could always not put it inside the water but wrap it around the bucket and insulate. Would require more material tho..

I feed mine hemp seeds from time to time

BC, I'll report to you how my winter waterer works once I get it built. But it's going to be insulated.

But with hemp, you can feed the whole plant I think, if you're using it as a base for livestock feed.

Hemp seeds, eh... I have a bag of them in my pantry, never used. Seemed like a good/healthy idea at the time.

That's what happen with my hemp seeds. I keep them in the freezer when I buy them but if they sit in the freezer too long I give them to the birds
