I don't have a attic either, two story house but just a crawl space, 100+yr old house. It stays pretty comfortable because we have big shade trees, eleven foot ceilings and the hot air naturally rises and pulls the cooler air from the cellar. We do use airconditioning when it gets over 90. One medium one in the living room and a small one in our bedroom, just enough to make it comfortable. I don't care what it costs, it's worth it.

The house that I owned in Texas came with an attic fan... not a regular one, but I think it had been taken from a jet engine.

If you turned on that attic fan, and opened up the windows in the room that you were in, it gave a really nice STRONG breeze.

I don't like AC

My friend Denise added a Whole House fan... to her old house.... My goodness that was a good deal. And If I had a house with an attic I would be doing one of those.

But I dont... My house is actually a mobile home with a house built over the top... low pitch. There is how ever a duct for an external swamp cooler. I could add a whole house fan to that... Hmmm... the existing cooler was dead when I bought the house it would be easy to remove and add a fan... Hmmm... got my brain working...

When I went to bootcamp at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri, it was a high of 65 here and rainy. Got of the plane in St Lois MO it felt like I walked into a microwave, instant sunburn. It was so humid some days at Ft. Lost in the woods it would rain big rain drops without a cloud in the sky.

Posted this on Tara's thread as well. Thoughts anyone?

Kind of reminds me of the old song, "Tennessee Bird Walk"
Anyone go for a poultry stroll?

It would work..... but I am sure the chicken would look at you funny.

But I am SO GLAD that the post you posted came with a picture of what it is.... because that is NOT what I thought it was at first glance
