Dixie Chicks

The dachshund has conditioned me to wake up almost immediately to a very low growling. If I'm not up within a minute, she will either pee or poop on the floor, or sometimes in the bed. It's nice that she at least gives a warning before doing it... Luckily she hasn't been as bad for a long time. After we put her on a lower dose of food, and got her to about 11 lbs (from 13), she has been doing a lot better for the last 4-5 years. She has something similar to chronic IBD, and needs a specialty food, and a constant very low dose of prednisone. I think we're down to small accidents (that actually seem quite intentional) once every two or three months by now. At one point it was several times a week.

You too.

The police reported today that they have been preparing a surveillance program in secret. 250 seagulls equipped with surveillance cameras and walkie talkies have been trained, and will be taken into use in keeping the streets of Helsinki safe.

I think it's cool how this shared custody thing works. The chicks seem to be equally imprinted on both girls, earlier today they were very keen on staying under Wilma, but now in the afternoon, they were sleeping under Emma, and Wilma even went outside to take a dust bath on her own. Has anyone else tried hatching with several mommies?

Oh, and another interesting thing. We're down to just one layer at the moment, Töyhtis. The mommies let her come into the nest to lay her egg, and then they brood it there. No fighting occurs, what so ever. The roo is pretty calm about things too, but what I'm worried about is the four adolescent cockerels we've also got in there. They seem to be pretty mellow still, but I'm sure they'll start manning up soon. I wouldn't mind culling them, but there's hardly anything to eat on them yet. I'm just afraid that when the chicks start getting more active, their paths will cross with the teen cockerels's.

My neighbour could use some lithium....

Vehve do you have any where to put the cockerels to grow out? Mine complete quit the shananagans once I moved all the hens. Mine are I think 5 months and really not worth eating yet... I need meat birds....
