see...  I tried incubating dirty eggs too.... I had better luck with washed over with the dirty ones 

dunno, now y'all are making me wish I had been more scientific about the entire thing

Think it also depends on how dirty, total amount of shell covered, and whether it's mud or poop... poopies are a major no go, but plain mud is usually fine...

I just want some eggs from my welsummer that ain't frozen. I think we're past the frozen eggs weather, now I have to wait for her to start laying more often.

I only have one hen, how many days is the max for how old they are, going to take awhile to get enough eggs. Maybe two or three weeks?
My father had a Black Japanese bantam (little crow) that would hatch around 18, had to have takin more than 18 days to lay them all. She always had about a 100% hatch with hers and the RIRs.

they say 10 days and you start to lose some hatchability. I've kpt for 21 days with a pretty good hatch rate.

I read in a poultry book wrapping them in cling wrap, as well as tuning can give you 3 weeks of storage time with good hatch rates... I think the storage temp was 50F.

I think I read somewhere someone was incubating their eggs for a day or something before shipping them. Was it here, or old folks, was I drunk, or did I dream about BYC, cause if was a dream I have a serious problem. Anyone heard of this?
