I'm glad she mentioned tile grout doesn't work, I have some extra, not going to try it. I have a couple bags of morter from building our garage, might try that. It seems concrete would be too 'stony'. The thing with concrete and mortar is the less water you use the harder it gets, but the harder to work with if your pouring a pad, and I imagine getting it to soak into cloth.

ok I think rooster but???? what are your opinions?

Wow, they got big fast!

I think these concrete pots are super cool. I imagine they hold up because they still have the cloth in them, don't remember where I saw them posted. Might have been here already.
These are awesome.

@vehve - google hypertufa I made some pretty nice pots, troughs for my herbs that way. They hold up well to our climes and are half the weight of normal concrete pots. I also like that you can make them look like they're really old stone troughs pretty easily.

Well folks, it's finally spread to chickens and wouldn't you know it would hit my state first?

(posted by the Chicken Whisperer on FB but "officially" reported by the USDA)

Bird Flu spreads to Wisconsin chicken farm. (It's moving east folks, and it's chickens this time, not turkeys. The farm is under quarantine and 200,000 chickens will be culled.)

Soooo, I performed bumble foot surgery. The whole bottom was busted out infected and draining. I cut it open and squeezed out what I could and washed it very well. I am a nervous wreck now. He's wrapped and resting. I feel bad for the poor boy. I never realized he had it as he just started limping 2 or 3 days ago.
