Maybe we should move. We have a I think 2,500sf two story 100yr old farm house on 2.5acres with a 24x28 garage and a 8x16 coop and with 'star program' for low income (knocks a chunk off for anyone making less than $80grand I make half that) we still pay over $2000 a year.

Edited to add; that is one heck of a man cave bama!!!

anything.. an outhouse, a tool shed the size of on outhouse....

truly, EVERYTHING

I didn't see I slot for my fence... but there is a "general improvements" category... so I am sure if I put in a snazzy fence they would tax me on that too.

Any RV or boat is taxed.... even if it can't move and just sits in your backyard. The lowest RV and boat tax is $50 per year... and then it goes up if it is a nice boat or RV.

wow! that is harsh!

I pay more than that... but I have more acreage....

we have no "poor folk tax break" that would rock! Because we don't make anything close to 80k.

We do have an "old person" tax break... but spouse and I aren't yet old enough to qualify.

I would move here bro. No snow. Plenty of sunshine. Inexpensive. Good schools. Beautiful women. Friendly.
And Yes its a heckuva man cave. It was a speak easy. It has a bar and 2 pool tables. Needs about $5000 worth of work to get it right where I want it though. We bought it in a forclosure auction for next to nothing.

My property taxes for a 3000 square ft house, a 30 x 80 ft doublewide, 10 acres, a 40x65ft shop, a 40x60ft man cave and 2 20x20 sheds costs me $650 per year in property tax

I had to reread that five times....

AND you are where it is HOT

I SO want to move in with you! Actually nope, I don't ... if I go crazy and leave spouse and the kids, I am moving in to deb's house and I will fix it up for her and roast my bones in the sun every single day until I am fully cooked.

so... I just reread my property tax evaluation... and they didn't list my coop.... but they did list my other buildings, sewer, well, "landscaping" and driveway.

I wonder if it is because the new tax appraiser was NICE (I know... die of shock) he clearly was trying to value my place as low as possible....

depends on how you want to count...

If you count that I PAID for 2 dozen RC whites and darks, and got 6 chicks .....  that is a 1/4 hatch rate.  Bad, but not horrific for eggs shipped to Alaska.  I count 25% live hatch as the bare minimum acceptable rate for eggs shipped to me.

If you count number of hatched living chicks (do you count the one I killed that had the external yolk as a hatched, or only the number alive after 2 days of life?)

18 chicks made it to hatch  (I killed the one that had the external yolk, and I have two that aren't yet fully hatched and fluffed, so iffy)

I paid for 24 eggs... but I received 46 eggs.

So, do you want to do 18 chicks alive at hatch and.... what is the second number?  24?  46?

So, not sure how you would calculate it... but I see it as a 25% hatch.
I'd count X # of chick's from the 46 eggs. Considering he did send 46 eggs and that's how many you set.

That' s harsh getting taxed on owning a boat/rv...

Here we have property taxes, property taxes go up with improvements if property value goes up. We do pay 5% tax on purchases.

We have 4 acres, fully fenced and less then a 5min walk to the lake everyone wants to be at. Everything north of us is crown land. I think we pay just over 1000 in taxes
