Holy poop!
I'm 100% sure I have 6 females and one male amoung my duckling (4 are pretty close to identical, the boy is one of them). Crazy odds... That's a lot of duck eggs... I'm keeping the young drake too, no need for my older fellow to use any thing until it falls off...

Oh lord... Gross, gross, gross...
"what's that weird tube thingy in the duck pen mommy?!"
"Oh god no Lilly! (one of the hens) don't eat it!!"
The older guy is still a few weeks away from a year old, but 9 hens is more than enough for two drakes... Or it should be...

Nice odds, Sam... and very gross visual... I thought it was bad that I'm always saying "Don't eat the poop!"... that one... I have no words... lol...

the air cells were great and everyone was great. 2 popped externally and 1 was trying to get out and the other pipped, was alive 24 hours later and died. The other was internally pipped for 12 hours and when I went to see if I needed to intervene it was gone. :/ I'm going to try something a little different as the big timers say they incubate them air cell up and lay them on their sides. I tried hatching them in cartons and it's not working. If that doesn't help then it's back to hand turning them.

I did mine in upside down cartons w/bottoms cut out... seem to work well, 16 made it to lockdown... just that they had a lot of goo in the shell... :/

I'd say that's awesome! I'd love a hatch like that. I know chances are 50/50. but boy do I have my fingers crossed.

Anyway. my Ancona hatching egs are supposed to arrive Friday. :celebrate Keep your fingers crossed!

Yay!!!!!

I don't know! My calls are eating the same thing they ate last year and the same as everyone else and they just don't want to hatch. I got one and its a noisy little bugger so it'll survive. I moved the one due to hatch the 23 to their sides. Everyone's still alive. Well see how it goes. As soon as I start seeing internal pips. I'm making safe holes for the all so they don't suffocate. I feel like my internal pipped duckling suffocated. The one that externally pipped, idk why!

I had one that had it's beak out and clear that up and died too... something seems to be going on with hatches this year... idk...

Oh, the box is at the Nashville PO, so will have it in morn!!! :D

yay on the box!

Like you turn the egg holder part upside down? So the part that normally sits on the table is facing up? Did you incubate on their sides?
