JWB, I must admit, I just turned into that six year old too... I came in from walking the dogs, and went to check on Hilma and saw that the straws I placed on her nest entrance were moved, so I retrieved the trail cam and just checked out the footage. In the first video she digs it open, in the next one she's squatting on top of the nest and I can suddenly see a pair of black feet dangling about. In the next video, there's also a glimpse of a white head with black spots visible, and in the last video that features the babies, Hilma pulls away from them, exposing three black ones (one is a bit smaller than the others), and what is possibly a glimpse of one grey. But this means we have at least 4 kits in there, alive and well!

I'll post the video's once they finish uploading to youtube, should be about 45 minutes.

I feel your pain...


I am getting close to getting a hammer and smashing all eggs.

After my last orders, I will NEVER EVER EVER again hatch Marans to order (other breeds yes, Marans, no).

I think I have 20 something eggs in there... HOW MANY HAVE HATCHED????? 2, TWO marans.

I cracked one to peep inside, and it looks alive, but it looked like it needed 3 more days, DAYS!!!

There is no way that I spaced out and put eggs in three days after the first set of eggs... I mean really, am I THAT insane??? (answer, yes, of course I am, but I really didn't think I did that... I asked kid #3 that labeled all of the eggs for me with Xs and Os... and he said that maybe 1 day apart, but not 3 days or a week.

I dunno... JUST INSANE

I now hate eggs and hatching and all cute and fluffy chicks... they are disgusting alls of fluff put on this earth to give us coniptions.

I dosed all but 18 of our chooks today with Safeguard and Ivermectin... blech...

What kind of Ivermectin and how much? If you don't mind me asking.
