how many quail are you incubating?

I have a bit over 40 eggs in there... but my fertility is WAY low because there were way too females to my one male.


I was going to say more stuff.... but my brain blanked.....

Set up to burn a huge pile of branches and chunks from our stupid giant willow tree by our pond. I would probably be alright, pond on one side stream on the other, but I think I might put it off until we get some rain. They just had a big forest fire downstate started by someone burning garbage. Roosa Gap and Shawangunk Ridge State Forests, 1,740 acres gone. Even jumped a highway. We don't usually see this. We need some rain!

Yay for quail, boo for fire. But it's quite interesting to see how quickly a burned area grows back.

I called strombergs. It will be 2 to 3 weeks on my red tuxedo quail eggs as they've just started laying.

Here we have to have a burn permit.... Burn permits are very very very rare here.

Scary! We got our wood shredder in the mail today. So DH and I won't have to burn. We'll spend our wedding anniversary together doing that task which is a change from chain sawing!

And I read it was just one of those forests 1,740 acres, other is 2,400 and 75% contained. They said it was the first time a air tanker was used in NY.

we need a permit also @perchie.girl , however when a burn ban is in effect @Beer can

you cant burn even with a permit... But when there is no burn ban you can burn so long as it's certain size yaddida yaddida have a hose, shovel, some other stuff and so far from a building blah blah...........
