@RavynFallen don't you have midget white turkeys or whatever they are called or is that @ladycat ?

@hennible have you decided yet what kinda chicken you wanna start raising breeding and all that jazz again?

@Alaskan are you going to stop raising marans?

@BriardChickens you have any more eggs due?

@Peep_Show whats going on in the garden?

@tntchix you doing ok?

@Cold Canadian you going to share any of your garden pictures?
@vehve how has seperating the baby bunnys going?

@Beer can you still without your sandhill chicks?

@Bogtown Chick hows things going?

I know my eggs and chicken is safe from antibiotics, chemicals, growth hormones etc.   I feel better feeding my family as much natural as I can.

Absolutely agree!! :)

I've also heard they're easier to prepare.  I could eat my chickens if someone raised them somewhere that I never saw them.  I do have alot of respect for those who raise their own food , and all the chemicals they don't have.

We all do things a bit differently, we like diversity... no judgements and we share ideas and experience... lots of good people on this thread... glad to have you... :)

Interesting.  I have yet to eat a pickled egg.  Got a recipe?

Someone posted this one that they used for Serama eggs...

3 tablespoons Pickling spice 2 cups vinigar, 1 cup water. Bring mix to a boil cool and pour over peeled eggs covering them. Add fresh chopped garlic and dill. Add hot peppers if you want a little kick. Let set in fridge for a week then enjoy. Just that simple.

@Amberjem that's ladycat who has the midget whites... no turkeys here...

Getting ready to process our first Sulmtaler though... can't wait to see if he's as tasty as they say...

I can't eat anything I raise, but I understand those raising meat or poultry for food. I was wondering if they have pet value or not. Like if people keep them for reasons other than eating? Just curious.

I used to keep button quail in my aviaries.... they clean up the spilled feed from the finches and parakeets. funny little buggers but they really dont tame up. Though I never tried,.

ignore my fiance griping in the background.
ah ha!! found it.......well least she is eating and all that maybe she might take to being a pampered chick :) how old is she? pretty feathering

that mega sucks with your rain and all the mud... part of why I planted to have covered area's and everything for mine... I remember so vividly how my grandmothers coop got soo muddy

she is 18 weeks. She's already loving being pampered. Guess she needs a name. Keep calling her lil red. Already have a lil red, so need a new name.

I thought you had gotten some eggs from her or something oh well... I've been enjoying these turkeys so darn much be curious about what the processing n what have you would be for those birds....... but then might just stick with the bronzes.. I was thinking I'd like to try raising a couple of the royal white palms... I think those are breedable also but might be wrong...am super impressed with how dumpling size and everything is turning out....

did a lil mental calculating between the garden and the chickens processed from my new years hatchlings and couple others....have probly eaten about 3 good solid meals of home raised food alone...... that doesnt include all the salads and greens to go witygh other store bought meals........once we get this moving and stuff done...we're going to be looking into a bigger freezer and 50's going buffalo and pig hunting and stock the freezers.....

I been wondering if my brown leghorn is going to start laying soon.. pretty darn sure it's a hen lol hasnt developed any hackles or saddle feathers... I had thought it was going to be a cockerel because the face n comb pinked pretty fast......
