Deb: I have had 4 detached aircells reported to me in the past 15 dozen (plus extras) eggs I have shipped. No broken or cracked shells since using my improved method. I have also bought eggs from several sellers on here. My method is the best I have seen and less expensive than most

Al, with the temps you keep in your house, I assume the power company is paying you? :p

Karin complains that I keep our house too cold too (20C), I keep telling her to turn the heat up if she wants to, but she seems to prefer to just complain.

Temps in my parent's house? or my house?

haha!

Nah... I still have to pay through the nose to keep that house above 40F in the winter, and I hate spending money like that. That house is too old, and my boys are too destructive. I just noticed that TWO or the bottom things I put on the exterior doors have been torn off..... I am not sure how.

But, I will not worry about it until fall/winter since there is NO heating or cooling happening at my house in AK right now, so it doesn't matter at all.

1 is Araucana, 1 I think is Blue Ameraucana, and 1 is new laying Araucana...

Nice looking eggs! Glad to hear your chickens are recovering from the bad dog massacre. I had just put nine chicks in a new pen...and was waiting for the next day to net the top. The next morning I had five massacred chicks in their house, two missing completely chicks, and two very, very frightened half-orpington females huddled in the corner of the run. Those two survivors were taken inside again for another two weeks, and then put in another covered pen. They are just so timid and wild, and will have nothing to do with me or any other chick, though they do free range the same space now with the big girls, and leave and return to their own daily. I wonder if they will always remain so skittish?

I have heard different "length of time" that a hen can produce fertile eggs after being with a roo. Anyone want to share their knowledge on that? I have a broodie that is sitting ten eggs...three I was given by someone and seven from my yard...but the roo had to be rehomed almost 10 days ago. None of the eggs are the broody hens...but she doesn't seem to mind.

I've heard up to 30 days, but personally ally 2 weeks has been about the max here.

Thanks, Mini. So, there is hope that some of the seven eggs from my flock might be fertile. Good! The other three may or may not be fertile, but they were from a mixed flock with two roosters. :)

My bad news for the week is that my car finally and permanently died this week. It is only 18 and I don't want to bury hit. I am in the "don't think it is worth the tow cost after just putting 300 for this, 220 for that, 80 for the other and $112 for a battery my redneck friend swore was actually the problem." (It wasn't.) Good money after bad and all that.

My good news for the week is, I was out of mayonnaise and have no transportation. But I had Meyers lemons. I have not made mayo in years....but you know what they say about necessity.
Best **** mayo ever. I mean, I was licking the spoon. So, I may be car poor, but now I am homemade mayo rich! :)
