What's your experience with poultry scissors for processing/killing quail, chickens, ducks?

So I apparently suck at this vent sexing quail thing. I know I've got at least 1 male as I hear it attempting to crow and sing. Either I can't figure out which one it is, or it isn't mature enough yet to produce the foam.
Everyone claims 4 weeks and these are 5 weeks and 1 day now.

never used them for chickens or ducks. We either used an axe or we used large pruning shears.
