I really like Texas..... Being here for 10 days or whatever it has been/will be.... Makes me really want to move back here......


I love that west Texas photo.... But yeah... A bit dry... Need to make sure you have a good well.

Lot of reasons and rhymes
This shades that, or feeds it, holds it up, keep bugs away, creates living mulch... Etc
Then once that's going, I lose my mind and cram 10 more plants in and see what happens.... Lol

Good morning! @hennible , greenhouse garden looks great! Here it's 5:30am & I'm thinking about cooking grilled squash for dinner because of your tour. Our garden is flooded & impossible to weed right now.

We candled the eggs last night. I have none separated into their breeding pairs, because I thought they were all done for this year, so all the baby chicks will be mutts. Out of 9 eggs, 9 were fertilized & appear to be doing great at this time. Today is day 16. I am going to have to find a place for them. I have a brooder box, but it's currently filled with the last batch of chicks. @Amberjem , I do separate my broody. Usually a lot sooner than this. We have so many chickens that I worry about the stress they put on the broody. I also have food and water available to her all day this way whereas back at the coop, they run out of food and occasionally water for a few hours.

EE with the upper respiratory infection is doing very well! I was super shocked to see her eye is almost back to normal. On the flip side, I heard one of my Astrolorps cough. Going to pull her today, put her in isolation and medicate. This same hen laid 2 eggs the other day that were not developed, so I've been watching her. Poor girl. Darn weather. I feel like we live in Louisiana. Swamp country out here.

You all have a good day. I'm having lunch with a friend, delivering 12 dozen eggs, and possibly (if the rain holds out

) going to our local park to grill out and spend a little time there.

I found out I have at least 1 Texas A&M white male quail. Caught him crowing. Marked him so I can try this sexing thing again in a few more days.
