So, my undesired unknown color paint chick actually had lots of little splotches of color. Might not be so bad afterall
does that spot on its leg look chocolatey to anyone else? I cant decide if it looks muffed or not either?

Looks chocolate to me, but apparently I can't tell blue from chocolate... :/

Muffs, but looks like single copy... which makes sense...

The reds I've been reading have a problem with yellow legs popping up. GFF pipped in on a 2010 thread and mentioned they imported some and had some leg color issues. I can't tell if mine are white or yellow from the pics I took today, I'm going to have to examine everyone when I get home Lol!

You sound like me and watching my silkies every day wondering what sex they are. I am sorry that you got skarood by that hatchery. Even a refund doesn't fix it. Well, I got 2 speckled Sussex as chicks from a hatchery, and liked them so much I got 2 more the following year. Why? Maybe because they follow me around. You might end up liking them.

I am very serious when I say they are my best smelling chickens. When they jump up on the feed can, I put my nose in their feathers and they smell just like fresh air.

We now have 5 additions to our flock! The broody was sitting on 9 eggs, one died a few days ago & the egg "disappeared". Yeap. Pretty sure she ate it. The other 3 that were under her were developed & I'm not sure why they didn't make it. One had a wonky head. Never seen anything like it. But all said we have 5 new baby chicks & one very proud mama.

By the way, we told DH. He just said "OK, now, no more chickens!" Ok.............but I do have some roosters to butcher to balance it all out when I decide we need more.

Man. I Haven't checked this thread in too long lol! Anyone have any cochins or silkies they'd sell eggs from? Im getting a list of people that do so when I want to get some I can just look there. Also I may get another breed and need suggestions. I like chanchtlers however you spell that any ways they would be perfect for winters but will they survive 80 degree Fahrenheit weather with like 10 percent humidity? I live in conditions very close to perchie.girl if that's any help! Thank for any input.

bamadude has a pair of Silkies... I have roos and several pullets, but only 1 pullet is laying so far (sporadically), and 1 hen laying well (broody right now)... so might have some later on down the road...

BriardChickens has Chanteclers (I believe), might ask how they are but all things I've read about them is cold hardy and don't do well in heat...

My hen lays about 2 eggs per week now. It is too hot here to ship eggs

Oh, and to make my possible Cockerel undesired paint chick, soaking wet shirt day worse, my female quail number went down to 12. Still a small possibility there is 1 or 2 males (but I really hope not). So I guess I have 15 boys. Guess I have to decided who to keep. I definitely am keeping the tuxedo male and the biggest Texas A&M white male. Not a huge fan of the Golden male so I guess he'll go. I may keep a Rosetta male also. Uhg, I hate decisions.

Maybe they'll lay soon and make this week better.
