Mini, i have to go back to the calendar, but I think they are 6 weeks, 5 days old. The egg weighs an adoring 9g!
Oh, and by the end of this week I'll have a brinsea 40, with humidity pump, everything fully automated. No more guessing, best chances for any eggs from here on I hope!!

Dh has picked up enough egg customers that we could justify 25 laying hens... I have 7. Today's baking almost ran short on eggs. Now that's just wrong. Today we spoke about minimum space requirements for chickens. We are still laughing if we double our flock since we upgraded our co-op and run just a few weeks ago.

Have any of you'll hatched a chuck without a cloaca? AKA poop hole?

Not me... had a couple cross beaks in shipped eggs that didn't pip, but other than that only 1 other issue with a chick from shipped egg... we don't think it's genetic on that one though... think shaking the yolk during shipping might cause issues as well... we only see the damages done to air cells, but I think there is more that happens during shipping we can't see until development...

In non shipped eggs, so far I've had zero issues with actual hatched survivors... and only a couple that didn't thrive...

Sealed vent is new to me, but think I've heard of it happening?? :idunno
