I feel you!


The entire predator and disease thing is horrifically frustrating.

I just dont want to take any chances with vaccinated mixing with unvaccinated. So I will only introduce eggs brought in from the outside from here on. Because it is true about the perfect vaccination situation and these chicken vacines are not perfect, only giving the chickens the disease for life making them carriers. So when I give young innocent chickens to someone that has vaccinated adults hens and roos,...I now worry.
I wonder if the vaccines have caused super bugs?

No duck eggs yesterday.. guess my Ancona duck is ticket off for chickens sleeping on the floor. Or she is gearing up for more eggs.

Well, the laying flock of Cayuga's may fall through but I have hubby's full support to do lots of hatching next spring!! @minihorse927 you still up to helping me import eggs in the spring?

Yep, I'm up for it. Ravyn, honestly I've never had a call hen lay the same year they were hatched. They always begin laying the following year in february/march.

I love my Ancona's, at least I can tell them apart! The Cayuga's, not so much... I can tell the males form the females.

Yeah, that's what I figure... but a girl can hope, can't she?

yep! I wish they started here that fast. Some of my Ancona from this year are starting to lay though.

The big girls I got are sure acting like they're thinking about it... poor Araucana hen was confused and offended cuz she had to wait for one to get out of the carrier so she could lay her egg...

Only when they are older. I can not tell til the males tails curl and the girl gives up eggs. Then I know.
