One of my Ancona lays green eggs. She's laid 2 double yolkers so far (one 111g the other 115g.) DH comment: "You should hatch them out! Like a 2 for 1 deal" I did this on the inside of me:but I calmly said : "Now? Before winter, before a big move?" Disregarding that these eggs had been in the fridge for 7+ days.
We agreed not to hatch anything more until April. But DH sounded pretty excited about setting eggs in April (although the ducks probably will refuse to lay anything for about 2 months after the move)
I think by me using common sense in my reasoning, DH was excited about hatching out twins. (I did not tell him about success rates, cuz: he's ok with hatching out more ducks!!!)
If you can keep punky out of the new coop for 28 days you can set up the incubator there, yours is insulated, right?Ravyn, I have brooded ducks in the winter (well March is still winter here)... I'm not allowed to anymore![]()
Lol!
I guess the spare room is not a coop...
I'm really want to fill the incubator... Harder to get away with poultry shenanigans with punky no longer in camp.![]()
"Hey look punky, We had a duck hatch out its own" It's not lying if you simply forget to mention that the duck was electric.. Make sure you say it, not she or you could be digging yourself into a hole later if it ever comes out
