Congrats Hennible! Not fun bama! Well stuff here has changed lots were down to about 20 chickens due to cousins dogs and old age. Been thinking about buying a dozen either RIR chicks or BA chicks. Sell all but the ones we have of the that we chose to get as chicks. Next summer should be able to sell some eggs and more chicks than last year. Also I'll keep the silkie and two Cochin chicks I have.
The weather here has been weird. The day after thanksgiving it snowed a couple inches and was the first freeze. The next week it has been muddy during the day but like concrete during the morning. It's starting to slightly warm up. This has been the latest first freeze here in about 30 years is what I was told. Other than that things have been calm as usual.

Let us know how you go about it. I'm picking up some American Chinchilla meat rabbit's in the spring. Seems a shame to just throw the hides away, I don't think anyone buys them anymore though. Didn't think of making a blanket. I was just going to make some warm fuzzy underwear.

I'm raising then for meat but figure we'll sell a few on the side. I've got a friend who wants a magpie doe so I told her if I had a doe in the litter I'd sell her one. I'm keeping a buck out of them so that leaves one rabbit for butcher unless the other one Kindles. I'm the butcher person around here. Josh isn't around enough to do it although he'd help if I butcher on a weekend while he isn't slammed with other farm work. I'm hoping this weekend to go get three 75%kunekune and 25% American guinea hog gilts. Figure it'll start us a breeding program once we find a barrow or boar for them and we'll have pasture raised pork.

Oh, I have a friend at the border of TN/KY that raises kunekune!! They're neat! Been thinking of getting a pair...

I read up on the kunekune. I would start with something like that, an easy beginner pig.

Someone was saying that you can get them for free off of craigs list.

People buy them as pets, they grow up and are no longer fun pets... Then try to get rid of them on craigs list.
