All of my roosters popped of crowing this morning. At 2:47am. I went out to see if the hens were freaking out, but all appears ok. They normally start crowing at 5am when they see me moving around in the house.

Got 10 Calls pipped now and some Ohiki in lockdown too...

My EE roo I used to have crowed at midnight, 2, 4, and 6 like clockwork every night... whether it was dark or clear full moon didn't matter...

I think that I have two more weeks .... Then pure eggs, I think, hack, maybe.... Whatever, maybe I will wait three more.

Them I shall start hatching EEs... Why only EEs you ask? Because all pure fancy bred chickens suck rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only my Leghorns (production white single combs AS WELL AS ALL of the fancy colors) are laying.

D'anvers? Nada

D'uccles? Nada

Ameraucana both bantam and standard? Nada

My super snazzy Spitzhauben that have almost zero crest? nada

The Dominiques are coming back on line....

Yep, Alaskan, crazy about sums it up, lol... but I swear this has been the craziest Fall/Winter... my Marans just started laying again, but none of my others are doing squat... except... seasonal laying Calls and the Ohiki pullets from minihorse!! And Lady Grey, plus Crash started laying Christmas morning...

What could I do?

I need a broody soon too. One of our new layers keeled over last night, looks like a classic case of DCS. But now we're down to 4 girls again, and that's not good. So, time to hatch out a sixpack again, I think.

man My wyandottes are laying liked troopers these girls just don't wanna stop....dozen a day at least brown leghorn is every other day....brahma's going strong...not laying hasnt been a problem at all...seperating out for pure eggs soon as I process
