Dixie Chicks

Not really that worried, more interested. But yeah, parasites are always a possibility.

Oh, did I tell about our elk encounter the other day? The dogs started barking on our walk, but we didn't see anything at first, until we spotted a young male from last years batch lying about 20 meters from us. It wasn't reacting to anything, so we thought it was hurt. I held the dogs while Karin went a bit closer to take a look at it (We didn't want to call the hunting club in case nothing was wrong with it, as it probably wouldn't have been there anymore by the time they got there). She couldn't see any wound, so she started to circle behind it to see if there's a blood trail. When she was about 2 meters from it, it got up and faced her. Now, I don't know how close any of you have ever been to a young male elk, but 2 meters is definitely less than what anyone should feel comfortable with. Luckily there was a fallen tree between them, she kept the roots as a shield in front of her. Every time she took a step back, it took a step towards her. Finally, after 2 minutes of staring at each other he turned around a bit, and Karin managed to back out quickly with her tail between her legs. Talk about an adrenaline rush.

Now If I am not mistaken Finland Elk is similar in appearance to our moose.

Moose tend to be a bit more casual about humans than our Elk. especially around cities....Probably because they are Bigger.

Oh I've looked, peaches just don't grow here... Not with out some hard core effort (like Sepp Holzer style). I was just being a turd....

Speaking of turds my baby scovy drake has taken to blocking my moms dog door so her dogs can't go out... I think it's funny, she does not.

ok JUST throw down the gauntlet why dont you...

Growing in a green house is doable if you carefully Espalier the tree to allow you space to walk around.

Deb, not Alaskan moose... They love to trample people.

Happy, happy dancing on your squishy parts.

However, a male in early spring is pretty low key...

The super grumpy are cows with calves in the spring, and all rutting males in late summer and early fall.

raspberries dont like heat? there are a few -

I'm pretty sure anything that can stand San Diego will probably grow rampant here. I'm slowly introducing my dad to the idea that it's better to find out what will actually thrive here than to just plant anything. Blueberries helped. Both bushes died.

Oh and Yes we can grow apples....

I wish my apple tree would produce. I've been waiting forever! The tag was never taken off it, so now it's hanging out at the top of the tree.

At least yours looks like a tree. I have two that are at least 10 years old... Maybe 15, and they just this past year finally made it SLIGHTLY past the glorified twig stage.

Honestly, it doesn't look like any apple tree I've ever seen.

The trees that used to grow here before my grandmother decided to kill them late in life were shorter than this one is (it's about 6 or 7 years old) and a lot bushier.
