Gray squirrel pot pie is awesome.
Most people are turned off by gray squirrel. I've ate tons of them. Loved hunting them when I was a kid. Mom would par boil them and debone, dredge meat in flour and fry in butter in a cast iron pan. Mmmm.
I recently got back into hunting them a few yrs ago, season opens a month before smallgame and archery for deer. I use it to scout for bow season. Started using a .22 rifle instead of shotgun, wild squirrels are not like in-town bird feeder ones, it can be challenging. With a .22 even more challenging, gotta be like a sniper, wait till they stop moving for a good shot, I think it's better than deer hunting. Using a high powered pellet rifle this fall, been practicing on eradicating red squirrels and chipmunks right now (no I don't eat them).

we are overrun with ground squirrels here.... they dig burrows and can collapse a foundation Unfortunately not only are they smaller than tree squirrels they carry fleas that carry the plague... all the sites that do squirrel hunting say pass em up. But dang some of those communities can be as large as fifty or sixty.

People trap them using the Squirlinator....

I keep mentioning it anytime I hear of a injury, I was amazed by the stuff. I think your the first that tried it.

Your right, it was you. Thank you for that too bc I have used it not just for chickens but our son's chocolate lab scraped her leg and would not stop licking and chewing. Put the EMT gel on her and tied towels around her neck to keep her from licking and chewing. Then the next morn I tied a blanket around her neckto keep her from licking and chewing.

I got a cone. They say it soothes the pain and relieves itching, seals off the nerve endings, our dog didn't like it.
Our Tennessee mountain cur got a bad bad gash on his shoulder three inches long and deep. I can't believe I didn't notice it, he's dark bridle and probably licked it till it stopped bleeding. Kids noticed it, 'Harley's hurt' yeah whatever. ..OMG!! I felt like crap, should've been stitched, no $$. Thought about stitching it myself but didn't think it'd heal good without dissolvable stitches in the muscle... read about that emt gel, dog hunters swear by it, call it a 'first aid kit in a tube'.
Cleaned it up, sprayed it with a Betadine iodine solution, packed it with that emt gel, cone on his head, put him in a cage for a few days. Redid it every day. I never saw a wound heal so fast, it was a wide gaping wound. Skin grew back and even somehow the hair eventually grew back.
I swear by the stuff. Supposed to work for any animal bird reptile.

Have some. We did not use it all up. I wonder if it works for people?
