I think I will agree with that one! I didn't have the opportunities to make things like that as a child, nor my husband. But as adults we are teaching ourselves things to make. he is very much a rightie. I can claim ambidexterousity (hehe cool word) in most things, though in sports my leftieness is just the same as my rightieness- crappy! When I was in school I would get bored and mirror write my notes, or in a foreign language, or both! Or go full on upside down/backwards up the page... all of that * really* makes it difficult for friends to study with you, I will say!I am Ambidextrous.... Not to the point where I can write with both but almost everything else it doesnt matter. I can read mirror writing and upside down writing too. I do have a problem with dyslexia sometimes.... But I think thats more about not taking time.
I think spacial ability has more to do with being able to think in three dimensions. Sculpting and creating with your hands inhances those abilities. I have always drawn, sculpted, built things.... one of my best teachers for working with sheet metal was taking a sewing class in high school... Cutting out patterns and sewing things together to essentially make a three dimensional object. Those same skills apply.
My dad was always building prototypes and scale model planes .... Complete with fabric wings... I helped him on many occasion. Then when we were ready for our very first color TV back in 1969, he bought a Heathkit and the both of us built a color TV. He taught me resistor code and called out a resistor and I would pull it from the kit.... Oh and he was definately Ambidexterous too.

Do these count as inventions? lol. A couple of special-needs-mobility-devices (Chickmobiles). Just a bunch of pipe cleaners and, in Derpy's case, craft sticks, felt and toy car wheels.

Quote: As human beings and tool users we are specially gifted. You see the tools we use extend our sensory perception of the world and become a part of our whole thought process. From Driving a car to hammering a nail.... or words. We extend ourselves through the tool and include it in our thought processes.
And OMG what has the Internet done for that..... And its still in its infancy.
We have an expression in our family.... ""I cant" never did anything" I need to remind myself of that more often these days.
