Do Barnevelders and Orpingtons get along?

That's right. And you had good luck with eggs? I've already made a wishlist to the tune of $550.00 before shipping with Papa's Poultry for chicks. $449.99 before shipping with Carolina Rare Chicks and an order with Cackle that's about $250.00. I've lost my mind!
Wow, that's some wishlist! Yes, I had good luck with the eggs and was very happy with the results. My hatch rate was just about exactly 50%, which is what you'd expect from shipped eggs anyway. They traveled coast to coast from CA to MA, so I was pleasantly surprised and impressed that even that many hatched! Jeff sent me LOTS of extras, too, so the final number of chicks to hatch was exactly the number of eggs I actually paid for, thanks to the extras. That was really nice. I ordered another batch of eggs from him recently, arriving in March. Partridge Orps! :love

That's really good to hear. I had some Call duck eggs shipped from California and out of 18+ eggs everyone of them had a detached air cell and I had two eggs develop and neither made it. How were the eggs packed/shipped? I'd love to hatch eggs because it's less expensive, but I'd also love to just order chicks and know I'm going to get them. lol

Oh I LOVE this photo! 😍
Another update: they are all laying now, and still get along great, with no laying-related drama. They tend to all want to use the nesting boxes at the same time, as chickens tend to do, but they wait their turn. Or, the most they'll do is crowd around the box and yell at the laying pullet to hurry up, but nobody is bullying anybody out of the boxes. They eat together and dust bathe together and get along great! Even with limited resources, like treats out of my hand, they all eat next to each other and there's no bullying or hogging of resources. They've never had any fights, plucked feathers or the like. In fact, they are so chill that I still can't figure out the pecking order, and they are 9 months old now. This is one peaceful flock!

Wow, that's some wishlist!

And you're telling me? lol

Papa's Poultry - Lavender Silver-laced, Blue, Black, Splash, Chocolate, Silver-laced, and Lavender Orpingtons.

Carolina Rare Chicks - White, Blue, Black Splash, Lavender, Black Mottled, Chocolate, and Silver-laced Orpingtons.

Cackle - Silver-laced Orpingtons, Rouen and Silver Appleyard ducks, and probably a little quad of Salmon Faverolles because I'm weak! lol I just want to see what the SLO quality is like from Cackle as people are always asking. I'm only getting sexed pullets though, so hopefully I don't get any little cockerels.

How were the eggs packed/shipped?
They were packed really well, and the box was clearly labeled fragile and even had a note to the post office to call me for pick up, which I appreciate. Nobody actually called me, but that's not his fault :D Overall I've been VERY happy with Papa's and would recommend him heartily!

That's the way I like to see eggs shipped. I do not understand shipping eggs in egg cartons. lol I always individually wrapped eggs in bubble wrap and packed them in a box with another box. A bit like Yzma in The Emperor's New Groove...lol Minus the whole smashing with a hammer of course.
