Do hens crow?

This is my first foray into chicken rearing but my girls are about 3 months old and the dominate one is starting to crow a bit. Not very loud but he/she is definitely throwing back his/her head and giving it a go. Can hens crow or do I have a rooster?

The feed store I got them from said I could trade him/her back in for a chick but then I'd have one young chick and have to go through the whole heat lamp rearing stage again for one chick.

What are the drawbacks to having one rooster, if that's what he/she is?

The only drawbacks are that they are noisy and neighbors may get mad, and they can turn aggressive.

Hens can crow but they don't do it very often. More than likely you have a rooster, unfortunately. :'D
