Do I want to learn about genetics? Yes. Is it very intimidating and scary? Yes.

I don't know much about this, but I do know that a blue crossed with a blue can lead to black, white, blue, and more. I'm interested in this stuff too.

I didn't read through 30 pages, but someone corrected this right? Breeding Blue x Blue produces Blue, Black, and Splash. Unless your birds are also carrying recessive white, there's no way you're getting any White birds.

Blue x blue usually doesn’t give you white, unless both of the parents have recessive white. That off-white color with blue spots is called splash.

I meant splah/white. Like with blue swedish ducks if you breed blue to blue, you get silver swedish (a white color), black, and blue. some people call the silver white

Tldr, so I'm being lazy and asking.

Were the genetics behind Japanese Bantams with the short leg gene discussed here? I'd love to learn about that and figure out how to determine if my Japanese Bantam Cockerel possesses this gene. I'd love to be wrong (i am wrong quite often and that's ok because i promise I'll learn from it) but it seems like there's something with their genetics that's lethal. Maybe it's something similar to the crested duck bred with crested duck no no.

Fingers crossed that maybe i dreamed this and that has happened a few times
:fl

Nope hasn't been discussed yet, but don't be afraid to ask questions! People here are super duper helpful.

Thank you!
Hopefully someone will chime in about this because it's been on my mind for a while now. I have an awesome Japanese Bantam Cockerel that i have really high hopes for. He's showing so much promise that i hope to give him his own flock (i keep my boys separate from my girls but his personality is impressive)

Here is an article I found about it. I don't know how accurate it is, but if it is accurate it does a great job of explaining it. I hope this helps!

Thank you so much! That was perfect! Now i know that my sweet RoX has "long" legs (which i am thrilled with) and kinda understand the rest of it. Thank you so very much. That's a sigh of relief for me and one step closer for him getting some girls of his own. Thanks again

I may get some stink eyes but i prefer the long legs. To just hear about this, you'd think the long legs would look like a bird on stilts, but in my personal opinion, they look unnatural with the short legs (let me grab my shield before throwing rocks, please). They're all absolutely adorable but i just adore my little guy

Could we have pics of your guy? He sounds adorable!
