Recently one of my quail has a SUPER bloody head, almost like something was eating it. We also found out that the pen is now infested with house mice (the small brown ones). I would like to know if mice are known to eat button quails. The quails are less that 2 months old.

Mice are vicious, I wouldn’t put it past them to go after a small bird. Head pecking from other quail can cause a lot of bleeding and might be more likely than a mouse attack, however. Do you have a lot of males?
Actually, im not even sure about the genders of these button quails yet...

I would also suspect the birds before I suspected the mice. The mice should still go, though, because they will eat the button eggs, and given the opportunity will take out a weak bird.
I do have another question though, one of them has been starting to make "crowing" sounds. It sounds like a gurgly scream though

You could post pictures and see if we could help sexing? How old are they?
Not great pictures but it was a try though

This is the one thats doing the crowing sounds most of the time, calling him that because he seems to always torment and chase the other quails, even when there slightly bigger than him. Problably a male.

We actually have 11 of them but taking a picture of each one is genuinely difficult.
