I've gotten shot with a 12 gauge loaded with rock salt when I was a kid....... TP'ing a schoolmate's house. Rock salt will break the skin, not cause a lot of harm but will HURT like none other. Imagine not being able to sit cuz somebody shot me in the bum, and explaining to my parents who I had to wake up..... and them mom being tired, PO'd, and picking the remaining salt out of my butt cheeks wit her eyebrow tweezers....... Not fun, or pleasant.. But for some reason that is frowned upon now a days for trespassers, strays etc. It is considered cruel and inhumane for humans and animals as well.

did i ever TP that house again? NO WAY IN THE WORLD!

Yes Boyd I rehab wildlife. Thou is there was an animal trying to harm me my family or my pets (that would include livestock) bet your bottom dollar I would be taking care of the problem.
I have no hard feelings towards people protecting themselves and theirs.

I need to be able to do that too!!!!! We had! some bad neighbors kids here could do no wrong till they were caught in the act.

Since this thread isn't locked yet, I guess I will throw in my few thoughts.

I kinda look at this topic like this:
1. My chickens are on my property. If anything is trying to do them harm, I will deal with it accordingly. By this I mean if my cat is paying to close of attention to my chickens, I will shoo him away. If a raccoon is climbing my fence, I will shoot him.
2. I will agree with Boyd. Relocating predators is not a good idea. As far as that goes, from what I have read, it is against the law. I’m in Georgia and I’m not sure about weither it is or not, but I’m not gonna do it. True that the predator is just doing what comes natural but it is also natural for a mountain lion to attack a jogger or hicker but that don’t mean that we just allow this to continue by simply moving the cat.
3. I’m pretty sure it is against the law to release a non-native animal into the wild because it just don’t belong there. Same with a preditor, if you take him 20 miles away, who is to say that he won’t impact the wildlife in that area just the same as if you put a boa in the swamp down the road.
4. Of course the DNR/animal control should do something about it, in a perfect world. We all know that the gov’t can’t solve all of our problems and sometimes we have to protect our interests on our own, within the law of course.
5. We all have different views and different methods to deal with things. We all have that right. I really feel that Boyd was just stating his views. I don’t feel like anybody should tell him “well you’re just wrong” or “ that just isn’t right”. If your views differ from his, state your view and explain it and move on.
6. This one may make some people mad(although that is not my intention, just my opinion) I don’t think animals are people too. I value a human over an animal, no questions asked. I also think that my animals, while on my property and not being a nuisance, have the right to do as they please without harassment.
I hope you all don’t hate me for this because I really love this site and don’t want to ruffle any feathers (Get that pun? I thought it was clever and on point!!!

it wasn't funny 18 years ago, but now I can laugh... then again my 2nd wife asked me where i got those little white scars on my bottom..... think i told her..... ahhhhhhhh she knows how I was back then
