And this is supposed to be an example of respectful conversation??

Sorry Amazondoc, i was actually kidding, and since I neither identify myself as a liberal or a conservative i was poking fun at the stereotypes of society. Dog vs. Cat etc. etc. etc. Trying not to get this thread locked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's the weather. I know here in NH it's been POURING and cold all day. I'm feeling a little tetchy myself.
I've been watching this post all day, and I did get some good educational reading. I was unaware that relocating predators was illegal in most states. I, myself, wouldn't do it, but I also don't have the stomach to kill them, either. I built my coop like a tank, so I don't worry about predators and my chickens. And I just dare a predator to go after my pigs. I'll be on hand after to mop up the blood.

I have a couple problems out here where I am at. There is a feral dog population caused from all the "dumps" . There is also a large amount of coyotes within a 10 mile radius of where I am at.... Now it hasn't been confirmed by the DNR, but my wife, as well as another neighbor a half mile down swears they saw some sort of cougar (bobcat)..... Chicken wire isn't tough enough, and doubling my rows of chain link is VERY expensive.

I agree that dumping is not helpful to the animal or the new area it is going to. and dumping isn't just done in the sticks.

I am 1 block from City Hall and someone dumped a pup in my elderly neighbor's fenced yard. dog was there days before anyone knew it because it hid and howled. AC came and rehab'ed it. my neighbor dumped his daughter's Christmas kittens on my block 2 yrs ago. we now have over 40 feral cats and they ain't leaving the area. luckily a trap and spay group came and took care of most of them.

for those saying "well Animal Planet relocates..." read the credits on MOST AP shows and see it was filmed outside the US. most are Canadian shows and their laws may be different. and Croc Hunter was in OZ doing his relocating.

but we never see the other side of AP 'relocating' and hear what the land owners thinks of their new critters.

my BIL is in Montana and has wolves dumped on his place by the gov 'cause they used to be there'. well tell that to his calves that are killed every spring.

sorry
mini rant

I was under the impression that the government compensated stockmen for herd losses related to reintroduced wolves. Is this incorrect? (I can't remember why I thought that- saw it on TV, maybe.)
