Do OEG chickens make good layers?

Boy, do they ever!

I've had hens disappear, and thought a varmint got them --- only to hear "peep!peep!peep" three weeks later, and see a proud mama step out of some godforsaken corner of the barn with 8 or 10 chicks in tow.

I'VE HAD A FEW OF THEM AND GOT SEVERAL EGGS ONE BAD THING ABOUT THEM IS THAT THEY SIT LIKE CRAZY AND ARE VERY DETERMINED FOR A BROOD.THEY SURE DO LIKE TO HIDE THEIR NEST AND WHEN YA THINK THEY'RE DEAD YOU'LL FIND THEM WITH SEVERAL CHICKS AND EVEN SOME ROTTEN EGGS.[THESE WERE FREE-RANNGE THOUGH]. I WARN YOU ABOUT ROOSTERS THEY CAN BE AGRESSIVE DURING BREEDING SEASON,THOUGH THESE ARE STILL GREAT BEAUTIFUL BIRDS FOR THE HOME FLOCK.
