Do people always forget your name?

My real name is Carmella, seems that no one can pronounce it right, it's either Camille, Camila, Carmelia, etc.... But, I've had the nickname Cammy since I was very small, so that's what I go by. The only one that calls me Carmella is my husband and his family. Everyone in my family, uses Cammy.

I answer to all of them.

To be honest, I'd be confused by it. Is it a made-up name or one common in another language that I don't know?

Okay, this is really odd but I was named after a D&D character and a computer. Don't ask, my parents are a little odd.

They kind of made it up but my mom says Ri means royalty in some language. It's best to not ask where my name came from!

The name itself is pretty easy though.

Everyone calls me by my daughter's name. I have no idea why. My name is Cheri, my daughter's name is Angie. Those two names are nothing alike. However, I've learned to answer when someone calls me Angie. It's just easier. Of course my more common name is Mom.

People used to call me Am. My solution? I told them I would ignore them if they called me Am. Then I ignored them unless they used my real name! Worked like a charm.

Yep. It's Lisha (Lee-sha). Came from a soap opera character. I'll answer to Leash, Alisha, Elisha, just about anything, but don't call me Lisa. I won't respond to it, goes back to having a Lisa in kindergarten class and bad experiences.

I worked with a man that always asked for Debbie if he didn't know the name of the person he wanted to talk to. He did this quite often. I think most of the time he didn't remember the persons name, but often used it to get a name of someone that worked there. He was a salesman.

Here is another true story.
My grandmother worked in an office with a young lady when they were introduced my grandmother commented that she had an unusual name and asked what it meant.
The name was prounounced Femahli Brown
The woman said, I have no idea, my parents don't know, they said when they were in the hospital someone already named me.
My grandmother said how could someone else name you?
The woman replied, the tag on the bassinet said Female Brown and it was on everything else too so they just kept it.
This woman and her family had no idea that the hospital protocol is to tag male or female with the last name of the child and she went through her entire life Female Brown.

Oprah Winfrey was supposed to be Orpah from the bible but her father didn't know how to spell it either and put it on the birth certificate wrong.

I am surprised at how many people have trouble with people remembering their names. For some reason I don't have that problem.
Natalie
I get aggravated when people cannot pronounce my son's name though, we will be in the doctor's office and hear the nurse call
Kaleeb, Kaleeb over and over until I realize they mean my son Caleb.
How hard is that to pronounce?

PHONICS People!!! SHeesh. To bad they don't teach that here anymore

Julie, I think that's spelled "Schikwandah". Get it right, okay?

I thought I was just making something silly, didn't know that I could get it wrong... so sorry
