do runner ducks swim?

I am planning on using a large watering bowl to start and then upgrade to a kiddie pool. The place that I got my runners from had a number of kiddie pools and a pond. The runners were in and out of the kiddie pools constantly splashing and bathing. One time they were all lined up taking turns in the kiddie pool.

I have three runner ducks, 6 weeks old, and they love, love, love to swim in their kiddie pool pond. Don't tell them it is not a real pond , they seem to think it is.

I have an old sandbox, the one that looks like a turtle with the lid on, and I just drilled a hole in the bottom and put a drain plug into the hole, that way when it is time to drain it I just pull the plug...It works like a charm. No more dumping the awkard pool out. I actually have mine on a wooden deck to minimize the mud issue and under the pool I dug a big hole, so when I drain the "pond" it fills the hole up and no water is flooding the rest of my run. Like I said, it works like a charm....and the girls are happy.

Thanks, it works and that was my biggest obstacle. We don't have a huge set up and I did not want the ducks to interfere with our main love our chickens. This way they can share the run but the mud stays on that side of the fence, it is a partial fence by the way so the chickens and ducks roam freely back and forth. They all seem happy so mission accomplished.
