Do we have a rooster in this here hen house?

Hello! We have 5 black australorps that we got in the beginning of April. One is much more developed than the rest and is much bigger. Initially I was convinced rooster, but we've had no crowing. The picture of 4 chickens are the others and the solo one is the bird in question.

Thanks! Glad to hear hen. I know if we end up with a rooster at some point my daughter will want to hatch chicks. I just had a baby so I'd rather not have baby chicks anytime soon.

I see nothing cockerlish about that bird.

Welcome to BYC. She is a pullet that happens to be maturing earlier than the rest.

We did. Initially there were longer downward turned tail feathers. Her waddle and comb have progressed much faster than the other 4.
