Do Welsummers have fluffy cheeks?

I agree that it is an EE and I think it may be a male due to the patchy colouring on the body. I can't see male specific feathers yet(eyes are not what they used to be), but I'm concerned that there may be red patches coming in on the wings. I'm by no means certain of the sex though at this stage.
Another couple of weeks should give us more idea if you can post another photo then.

You may be right. I think she looks like a girl, but I wouldn't stake a great deal of money on it on it--maybe ten bucks (consider that a relative measure of how certain I am.) And that back tail feather does look like it's curling a bit.
Awww crap! Are you saying if "her" tail feather curls it's a male? I've attached a few more photos with her tail in them (sorry, I was focused on getting photos of her fluffy cheeks so this is all I got of her tail). Does this help determine the gender? Getting an EE instead of a Welsummer is one thing, getting a ROOSTER when I paid for a pullet is another.

I think she's just at the awkward stage when the baby colors are being replaced. The red/gold ones are super tricky but given there is no comb development at all yet, I think pullet.

Photo to demonstrate awkward feathering stage of similarly colored hen:

That photo seriously looks like mine! Amazing how a "mutt" breed that is crossed with who knows what can resemble another so closely. I'm obviously new at this but....quite interesting.
