Do You Believe in Ghosts?

It IS weird to hear your name being called and knowing its not one of your family or friends!
I have had several times where I was woken by a voice close to me yelling "Mom!!!!!" and then hearing a mumbling after I am completely awake but cant make out what they are saying.
In the funeral home we used to live in, often there would be smells of decaying. I also posted before about the "soldier" encounter I had there.
Once(again at the funeral home) I heard stomping around in the living room when everyone else was asleep.

I didnt really have a choice to believe or not to believe, if that makes any sense? I remember things happening from as far back as my memory goes. It was NORMAL to me. I didnt learn that what was happening was a bit odd until kindergarten. Kids are very cruel.
Gonzo, what are some other experiences you have had?

You are entitled to believe what ever you want to believe in, but posting fake experiences to bait others whom you think are wrong for having their own beliefs/experiences, denotes an insecurity with the matter on your part.

Actually, using logic to argue against the existence of ghost might have been interesting. Trying to trick everyone-especially in a obvious fashion- is a bit insulting.

In case you didn't notice, after explaining the reason behind the joke, I did use logic to argue against the existence of ghosts. Very nearly all "sightings" are due to hallucinations or dreaming. As I pointed out in the joke post, most of the "experiences" happen in times of extremely strong emotion, which can often trigger very realistic dreams. I have, on a number of occasions, literally heard a voice while everyone else is asleep. However, I know it is not a ghost, just a tired mind or my sister sleep-talking.

Also, I have to admit the main reason behind my joke post is not as "intelligent" as the reason I previously cited. It was mostly because I got a kick out of disturbing all the posters on the other thread. They really seemed worried, and I nearly fell over laughing at the reaction after revealing it was a joke. The reason the joke was so obvious is because I did not keep it going long enough to convince anyone I was serious like last time.

I don't see any "fake experiences" in my joke post, just attributing ghost phenomena to aliens. Seriously, though, I have very rarely heard of a ghost that could not be quite easily explained naturally. The rest can be safely attributed to demonic activity. The same actually goes for UFOs as well. Yet, for no discernible reason I love watching UFO Files on the History Channel.

Q9 you are setting yourself up for nobody to take you seriously in the future. While I don't think that to be a particularly wise move, I do understand the sense of humor behind it. Unfortunately, as I have often done as well, it does tend to frustrate some folks on the forum. I thought it was mildly amusing, but you have to remember not everyone will. Be prepared to apologize profusely and laugh quietly

Now, can we get back on topic?

I'd like to see more of why people don't believe rather than just stating disbelief and others stating experiences. Just as much as it is possible of their existence, it is also entirely possible of their nonexistance. Care to share your reasoning Q9?

Yeah, I am curious about the not believing as well.

I have to say that much of what I have experienced, just happened. And quite often NOT when I was in a emotional state.

When I was little (around 9) I almost died.... After that I started talking to "my guardian angel" that was named Marty. I don't know anyone by that name BTW... I'd say that lasted until I was about 12 or so. I tend to be able to sense spirits. I don't tell too many folks for fear of being laughed at. But, There is this gas station off I-64, I cannot go in there. I get this feeling off fear, and helplessness that washes over me. Come to find out, a gas station attendant was brutally murdered there. And again, before I was married I was with my grandma, at the old court house in Evansville, and I was having my reception there. We took the elevator down to what I thought was the 1st floor, it took me to the basement... When the doors opened, I could'nt breath, or see straight, it was a major panic attack. I could'nt get out quick enough. I had never had anything so scary ever happen before or since. And again... A woman was murdered down there, I found out later to see why I did that. Its so weird. I don't like that I can sense, and not see, or communicate. Just don't seem fair! If I could help them, I would... Don't really know how to handle it. My grandma, told me that my Great Grandma was born veiled, and had psyhic experiences, but refused to develop or even admit to it because she was very religious.

I wouldn't say I believe, and I wouldn't say that I don't. I'm open to the possibility.
And I love a good heebie-jeebie

Gonzo your Great Grandma probably thought it was demonic possession. What do you mean by 'born veiled'?

Another thing I was able to "pick up" on, the factory that I used to work in was an amunitions factory during wwII. Anytime I would go into Building 2. I always felt like I was being watched. Always! A few years went by, and we had this younger fellow from The Marshall Islands working there... He was usually my lineworker.. We talked alot. He told me he didn't like working in Building 2 because there is a ghost over there! He said its a guy, and he just stands there and stares at me. He made me promise not to repeat it to anyone, we'd been laughed at! He said he could see spirits. I thought that was neat. I wonder if the guy doesn't realize he's dead? or maybe he's just curious...
